     Dr. Patricia Dettlinger (formerly Caisse) received her undergraduate degree at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1992, and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999.  President of her class for three years, Dr. Dettlinger graduated  a member of Phi Zeta Veterinary National Honor Society and received  honors including the Pharmacia and Upjohn award for proficiency in Veterinary Medicine, the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society award for Excellence in Emergency Medicine, and the Dean's  Leadership award.  Dr. Dettlinger has been part of the Sterling Veterinary Clinic since its inception, first as a veterinary technician, then as a veterinarian and Medical Director.  Excited by the vast opportunities available in private practice, she has special interests in surgery, theriogenology, oncology and emergency medicine.

     Dr. Dettlinger is a clinical instructor at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.  She enjoys numerous teaching opportunities at the school, as well as acting as the Rotation Director at the Sterling Veterinary Clinic, where students in various levels of their training spend core and elective rotation time.  She was honored to receive the Henry E. Childers Award in recognition of sustained and extraordinary contributions to the education of Cummings Veterinary students in 2009.  She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association.  

     When not at the clinic, Dr. Dettlinger enjoys surfing, playing the violin, boating, and spending time with her husband and two dogs.
