Welcome!
In 1987, the Sterling Veterinary Clinic was established by the Kowaleski family. Dr. Paul V. Kowaleski, a 1961 graduate of Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine, and a Sterling resident since 1965, cared for the pets of two generations of clients. He now enjoys retirement.
From 1993 to 1999, he was joined by his son, Dr. Michael P. Kowaleski, who pursued advanced training in small animal surgery and is now an orthopedic surgical specialist and Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in Grafton, MA.
In 1999, Dr. Paul Kowaleski's daughter, Dr. Patricia E. Dettlinger (formerly Caisse), joined the practice. A graduate of Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Dettlinger is a clinical instructor in the Department of Clinical Sciences at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, providing students with externship opportunities in various levels of their training. She also facilitates Problem Based Learning, a clinical, case-based course for the first- and second-year veterinary students, as well as a fourth-year Ethics Seminar. Dr. Dettlinger and the staff at the clinic are dedicated to instilling excellence in the next generation of veterinary professionals.
Dr. Dettlinger is the Medical Director at the Sterling Veterinary Clinic.
